Today for the first time the mast has been raised aboard our flagship, the S/V Wawona. This marks the first time I have been able to see it as it will be on the water. There is still a lot to do but I am closing the gap between a dream and reality. The next major hurdle will be getting the outside seams sealed. Then a float test! So many people have asked me if it floats I'd like to be able to answer them!
I also flew a kite today, just a cheap one from FallApart. But it took to the light winds and I must have flown it for a half an hour. As a future sailor it was a great exercise to feel the wind, where it comes from and how to get the most out of it. It's not quite sailing but it got me excited for the first time I feel a wind in my sails! Speaking of sails I'm thinking I need to rethink my jib setup. I may muddle about with that later this week.
